ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory administration on Thursday inspected food outlets in Bahria Town where they found the kitchens of several food chains in unhygienic conditions.

They imposed fine worth Rs160,000 on Chaay Khana, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Butterfly Gold and Country Club and Gold Restaurant Cineplex Gold.

“Today, we imposed fines on these food outlets other than issuing warnings and we will inspect them again next week. We will seal them if they have not brought about improvements,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner General Abdul Sattar Isani.

He said Assistant Commissioner Dr Waqar Ali Khan carried out the inspections under PPC’ sections 269 and 273 and the West Pakistan Pure Food Ordinance 1960.

He said proceedings under the Labour Act and child labour laws have also been initiated.

“Samples of food products have been forwarded to the Food and Health Department for laboratory testing,” he said, adding that there were also some expired food items in these food outlets as well.
