Firehouse Subs was founded in 1994 by former firefighter brothers Robin and Chris Sorensen.

Firehouse Subs closed its Westside restaurant last week.

"It was a horrible location, and we weren't getting any business there," said Katie Collins, the restaurant manager at the chain's Eastside location. "We weren't making any profit there."

Firehouse Subs opened on the Westside several years ago, she said.

The Eastside Firehouse Subs, at 1031 N Green River Rd., is still open and doing well, Collins said.

"Our (Eastside) location here is doing way better," she said.

There is no current plan to reopen another restaurant in Evansville, she added.

Firehouse Subs is a national chain, founded by firemen. According to the chain's corporate website, a portion of every purchase is donated to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which purchases equipment for first responders.

This closing joins another Westside restaurant, Bob Evans, that announced the closure of its Westside location last week.
