BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — A 33-year-old Boise man convicted of insurance fraud has been sentenced to a four-year prison sentence.
The Idaho Department of Insurance said Friday that Edward J. Castagno was involved in a vehicle crash in February of 2015. At the time, his GEICO insurance coverage had expired.
A short time later, the state says, Castagno called GEICO to reinstate his policy and then filed a claim with the company the same day and falsely said the wreck had occurred after the policy was reinstated.
A judge suspended the four years in jail, and placed him on probation. He is, however, spending some time in jail on an unrelated matter.
