While Ohio and Kentucky are similar in many different aspects of their business environments, they differ greatly when it comes to the most popular fast-food franchises to open in each state.

In Ohio, Chick-fil-A is the most-sought-after franchise Googled by potential franchisees, while Kentucky restaurateurs are more likely to look into running a Little Caesars site.

The top franchises in each state were determined by industry website Bid-on-Equipment. The trade group took a look at Google search volume trends in each state to create the list.

Kentucky stands alone in the Eastern part of the U.S. as preferring Little Casears, while Ohio is on par with a number of Eastern states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee and many others. In fact, Chick-fil-A is the most sought-after franchised organization in the U.S. right now, followed by Dunkin’ Donuts and Subway.

Ohio franchisees should be ready to pay up if they plan to follow the trend. Chick-fil-A is the second-most-expensive chain to franchise at $265,265 to $2.2 million in startup costs, but its failure rate is only 5 percent. Little Caesars doesn’t rank among the 15 most expensive franchises to launch.
