Chick-fil-A is already Michigan's favorite fast-food chain

Chick-fil-A is Michigan's favorite fast-food restaurant despite being in the state for less than a year.

The Atlanta-based chain famous for its fried chicken sandwiches is the overwhelming favorite among fast-food eaters nationwide, according to Foursquare data acquired by Business Insider.  Chick-fil-A is the favorite fast-food spot in all but a handful of states.

For the study, Business Insider looked at which chains received the most visits on average in every state based on the total visits to each chain divided by the number of locations in that state.

Michigan has just a handful of Chick-fil-A restaurants all of which have opened in the last year. There are currently locations in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Wyoming, Ypsilanti, Lansing, Okemos, Troy, Rochester and Portage. Additional restaurants are in development.

Other fast food restaurants named favorites include McDonald's in Alaska, Washington D.C., North Dakota and Maryland, In-N-Out Burger in Texas and Utah, Culver's in Kansas, Popeye's in South Dakota and Hawaii, Wendy's in Vermont, Taco Bueno in Oklahoma, White Castle in Nevada and Raising Cane's in California.
