Rock ‘n' Roll McDonald's to Remodel, Lose Famed Musical Look: Report

Rock and roll is dead.

Or dying, at least, at the beloved Rock 'n' Roll McDonald’s in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The unique fast food staple that has captured the eyes and hearts of tourists and locals alike will close Dec. 30 for remodeling and will reopen after shedding its rock façade.

The Tribune reports the McDonald’s, located at Clark and Ontario streets, will reopen in the spring.

“All I can share right now is, I am tremendously excited about this remodel,” franchise owner Nick Karavites told the newspaper. “I'm most excited to reopen and share this amazing restaurant with all of my customers.”

The rock memorabilia will go into his private collection, the Tribune reports.

When the burger joint reopens it will look more modern and offer table service among other “experience of the future” amenities McDonald’s aims to offer, the report says.
