McDonald’s has revealed which of its UK branches are set to reopen for delivery as the lockdown continues.

This month, the fast food chain announced it was going to be reopening some of its restaurants in the coming weeks.

The chain closed all of its sites following the prime minister’s announcement on Monday 23 March that the nation was to be placed in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.

Just under two months later, 15 McDonald’s restaurants are to going to be opened for delivery only.

Sharing the news across its social media channels, McDonald’s stated that the 15 sites will serve local customers “by McDelivery only” from 11am on Wednesday 13 May.

“Rest assured, we are working hard to reopen more restaurants and will keep you updated here as we add more,” the firm stated.

“Slowly, but safely we will return to towns and cities across the UK and Ireland and thank you for your continued support as we work through this crisis.”

The 15 McDonald’s branches that are going to reopen are:

  1. Chelmsford Riverside
  2. Chelmsford Westway
  3. Ipswich Cardinal Park
  4. Boreham Interchange
  5. Luton Leagrave
  6. Watford Hertfordshire Arms
  7. Chaul End Lane, Luton
  8. Beechings Way, Gillingham
  9. Sittingbourne Retail Park
  10. Gillingham Bowaters
  11. Tooting
  12. Dalston
  13. Welling
  14. Harrow
  15. Luton George Street

McDonald’s added that following an “operational test”, the company has “reviewed” its limited menu, which will omit items including milkshakes, the chicken legend and the McDonald's breakfast.

The chain has said it will be adding the vegetable deluxe meal and veggie dippers to the main menu, also including the veggie dippers in its Happy Meal.

In response to the fast food chain’s announcement, several people remarked that quite a few of the sites that are going to reopen are located in the south, some of which are situated in the same town.

On Twitter, McDonald’s replied to several of these remarks stating that the trial reopening of 15 restaurants is going to take place for a couple of weeks.

“We do hope to start expanding this trial very soon,” the firm said.

“As soon as we do, we will let you know through our usual communication channels or please do feel free to check again with us at a later date.”

It was recently reported that bakery chain Greggs had postponed the scheduled reopening of 20 shops amid social distancing concerns.
