Burger King to replace Frankie and Benny's restaurant in Tamworth
Restaurant closed in town in 2023.
A former Frankie and Benny's restaurant is set for a whopping new venture in Tamworth.
Burger King has confirmed it will be opening at the site in Bolebridge Park, near to the Odeon cinema in the town centre.
An application for the reconfiguration of the car park to provide a drive-thru lane to the existing restaurant and associated works was passed.

After a planning application appeared for a discharge of conditions to the previous proposal to turn it into a drive thru restaurant from applicant BKUK Group Limited, we asked the company for more information such as an opening date and any jobs being created.
The team said: "“Burger King® UK can confirm that Bolebridge Park, Tamworth will become a new HOME OF THE WHOPPER®. We will also be recruiting new team members to join at this exciting location. Stay tuned for more details around the opening date and recruitment opportunities!”
There is currently a Burger King restaurant in Moto Tamworth but it would be the first to open in the town centre and there are none in Ventura Park either, which does have the likes of a McDonald's, Five Guys, Nando's, KFC and Costa.
Branding had been taken down at the Bolebridge Park Frankie and Benny's site in 2023. Its website listed the Fort, Birmingham Broadway Plaza and Dudley as the nearest venues.
The Restaurant Group, which owns the chain of Italian-American restaurants, expected to save £5m a year by closing loss-making restaurants, it was reported.
One local shopper who we spoke to near the site said: "It is good to see another big name coming in Tamworth. It is nice to see them still wanting to invest in our town. Of course, it is another fast food shop and you do wonder about the increase in litter and the high obesity rates but it was a restaurant before this anyway.
"It would be good for local jobs hopefully and increase footfall in the area and bring more visitors to the town. If so, that is only a good thing for me and therefore I wish everyone involved the best of success."
