Missouri Gov. Kehoe considers ban on cell phones in public schools during the school day

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3)—Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe is considering a proposal to ban cell phones in public schools during the school day.
The state legislature passed the bill on Tuesday, which would ban cell phones during breaks, in the classroom, and at lunch. It would also allow school districts to create their own cell phone policies. It also requires schools to have comprehensive emergency operations plans and, if state funding is approved, anti-intruder door locks, and measures to remove lead from drinking water in schools.
If Gov. Kehoe signs the bill, it would go into effect for the 2026-2027 school year.
