Ministry sets standards for organising Qatar National Sports Day events

Doha:The Ministry of Culture and Sports called yesterday on all parties that will participate in the 2018 National Sport Day to follow the standards and conditions mentioned in the Emiri decision number 80 of 2011 when they plan their events for the day.

The Ministry said that following the standards and conditions will guarantee to achieve the goal of promoting the value of sports for people of all ages. The decision called on avoiding any celebratory events and focusing on events that involve physical activities that enhance the role of sports in an individual’s daily routine.

Another condition is that the activities must be suitable for the ages and physical condition of the participants. There should also be a good selection of healthy foods, and avoidance of providing fast food.

The Ministry said that all state entities must provide their plans to the Sports Day committee by January 11, that will help the committee study and approve those plans. . The plans should include an estimate of the number of participants. The ministry also advised participants not to carry out sports for long times during the Sports Day, in order to avoid any physical fatigue or muscle injuries. They also called on the planning parties not to hold the events in one location, in order to avoid traffic jams.
