It's not a good morning for England fans.

While we're all very proud of our boys for an incredible World Cup, there's still the heartbreak and disappointment of football not actually coming home.

But the lovely people at McDonald's feel our pain and are giving away free McMuffins this morning to help those sore heads and hearts.

While the nation was glued to their television screens watching England's World Cup clash against Croatia last night, the fast food chain made the generous announcement.

The McDonald's UK page tweeted: "FREE FOOD ALERT! Need a McMuffin after the #CROENG game? Get a free one with promo code FREEMCMUFFIN through McDelivery with Uber Eats on Thursday 12th July!"

McDonald's later added that the free McMuffins would also be available to customers via click and collect and shared some terms and conditions for the offer.

They said: "Also available via Click and Collect through the McDonald's Mobile App! (18+ - subject to availability and usual delivery charge; UK Only; UberEats T&Cs apply offer available until 10:30am on Thursday 12 July)."

Unsurprisingly people on social media were thrilled with the news.

One person tweeted: "You absolute legends it's my bday tomorrow and I'm off work, thanks ever so much."

Another wrote: "If they win celebrate with a free McDonald's, if they lose get a free one and buy one to make yourself feel better."

A third added: "Finally, a good reason for it to come home!"

Others were disappointed that the offer wasn't available in stores, so they would be missing out.

"That would be Mcgreat if I could get Mcdelivery with Mcuber to Mchouse," said one person on Facebook .

"Would be cool if we could order, ordered from a store around six times now it says it's too far," commented another.
