Winners of the Palestine Book Awards 2018 will be announced this week at a gala dinner which will be held in London on Friday evening.

The awards ceremony, which MEMO has been hosting since 2012, honours the best new books in English about any subject related to Palestine. As many as 50 books were entered into the competition from which judges whittled the numbers down to a shortlist of six.

This year’s shortlisted books are:

  • The Great War and the Remaking of Palestine – Salim Tamari, published by University of California Press
  • Balfour in the Dock: J.M.N. Jeffries & the Case for the Prosecution – Colin Andersen, published by Skyscraper Publications
  • Brothers Apart: Palestinian citizens of Israel and the Arab world – Maha Nassar, published by Stanford University
  • Enclosure: Palestinian landscapes in a historical mirror – Gary Fields, published by University Of California Press
  • Hamas Contained: The Rise and Pacification of Palestinian Resistance – Tareq Baconi, published by Stanford University Press
  • In the Land of My Birth: A Palestinian Boyhood – Reja-e Busailah, published by Institute for Palestine Studies

In addition to the private dinner, MEMO will also host a prelaunch event tomorrow evening which will be open to the public. Four of the six authors will be present to discuss their books and take questions from the audience.
